Emanate add a touch of Flash
www.thesourcer.com approached Emanate to update their site and add a touch of Flash animation in appropriate places. 'Although Flash is an exciting medium we still feel that our clients should use it wisely' says Robert Escott, Art Director at Emanate. He went on to say 'Flash can add extra interest for visitors but beware Flash can disable a site because if you don't have the correct Flash plug-in required for viewing the animations you will see nothing.

We recommend that Flash is used sparingly and standard HTML pages should be shown when a visitor has no Flash plug-in. The best option is always to have a choice between Flash or HTML but the cost of doing this is usually inhibitive.

If you want to know more about Macromedia Flash and when and where to use it contact Robert Escott for an informal chat.

Will I be able to update my site?
'
Will I be able to update my web site?' This is the usual question Emanate gets asked when taking a brief. The answer is YES! And not only that, you will be able to update it from anywhere in the world. As long as you have a computer with a standard Internet browser and a connection to the Internet updating your site couldn't be easier.

Emanate are in the final stages of developing a Content Management solution that allows web site Content Providers, with little or no experience in programming HTML to add, delete or edit content on their site. 'There is no additional software required on the client computer as all the processing is done on the web werver. This makes life a whole lot easier for people who want to take control of their site.' says Emanate's Technical Director, Jon Cameron.

Usually, anyone who wanted to make changes to their web site had to do so either by having a working knowledge of HTML or by using one of the many HTML editors.

Jon says 'The big difference with our software is that we have made it affordable for small and medium sized companies to use.'
